“New facilities are about new beginnings and endless possibilities”
USJ Library
The University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) campus is timeless, but we are constantly striving to make it a class of its own. We create spaces inside and outside the classroom that enhance the way students live, learn and grow. Providing a collaborative learning environment is the first step in developing 21st century skills. New, more spacious common areas for an active learning context can change the nature of our students’ learning to an interactive and communicative framework.
The new library will occupy a central position on our Ilha Verde campus; it will be at the heart of our campus. Taking into account its location and prominence, its integral role in supporting our core missions of research and education, as well as changing technological trends and learning styles, the new facility has been designed to encourage new forms of use by students, faculty and other members, to promote innovation in teaching, student achievement and new research partnerships. Spaces for group work, multimedia learning and interactive/flexible learning are envisaged. The building layout makes a clear distinction between learning and research areas. Dedicated spaces for e-learning and e-research projects are the hallmark of this project.
